Adopt a Pet

The PetConnect adoption process includes a consultation with a PetConnect representative and is designed to help you find the animal most compatible with your family.

We are committed to placing each pet in the right home for that particular pet. We take time to know each dog or cat and can give you detailed information about his/her behavior and personality. Please contact us at Petconnect@petconnectrescue.org if you have questions about a particular animal or need assistance in finding the perfect pet.

PetConnect requests an adoption donation of $250 for a dog, $225 for a puppy and $100 for a cat.  These fees help to cover the medical, transport and foster expenses incurred in rescuing each animal.

Petsmart offers discounts to anyone who adopts a rescue animal.  The discounts on food, toys and other animal-related products are worth about $160.  To get a coupon book for the discounts, just bring the PetConnect adoption papers to any Petsmart and present them at checkout.

Nikki

Nikki is a stunning 40-lb., spayed, female Hound, who has all of her shots and is in excellent health.

She thrives on lots of hugs and love, but is not good with children.  She is shy because she had not been socialized early in life.

Nikki is very active and loves to run.  She needs a home with a dog-experienced person or couple who have the time to exercise her and also help build her confidence and allay her fears through socialization.  A large fenced yard is paramount and a situation on a farm or large parcel of property would be ideal.  Nikki is very dog friendly and tolerates cats as far as we know.  She is crate trained and walks well on a leash.  Please call either Lizette at 301-299-3798 or Lois at 301-258-5182 for more information.

Toby

Toby is a gentle and loving dog, surrendered by his owner who could no longer afford all of his animals.  A spaniel and sheltie mix, Toby wants to be near people all the time.  He is affectionate and always hopeful for a loving hand.  He is good with other dogs and settles in easily to an established pack.  Always ready for an adventure, Toby loves to ride in the car and to go for walks through the neighborhood visiting all the people and their dogs.  Toby has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all of his shots.  For more information, please call Lois at 301-258-5182.

Midnight

Midnight is a lovely, silky black labrador/golden retriever mix with gorgeous amber eyes.  He is sweet with everyone, children and dogs included.  Medium sized and weighing in at about 40 lbs., he is fully up to date on his shots and neutered.  Midnight is under 2 years of age, playful yet calm.  He is quiet in his crate, but much prefers to be around people and is trying his best to learn and to please.

We know little about Midnight's background as his time was recently up at a rural shelter in South Carolina, and a late night plea was made for his rescue.  PetConnect made arrangements for him just before midnight.  (His time was to be up at 8 AM.)  He arrived in the area after 12 hours of travel and was clearly overwhelmed and frightened.  Safe at last, he is trying hard to understand what is expected of him.  This is a dog who has probably never been loved.  He has a kind heart and would love nothing more than a place to call home.

Midnight is a gentle dog who clearly wants to belong and be loved.  He plays happily with other dogs of all sizes and would fit easily into almost all home environments.  Please call Lizette at 301-299-3798 if you think you might be able to give this wonderful dog the chance he deserves.

Chloe and Peanut

Chloe (female on left) and Peanut (male on right) are precious Chihauhua/miniature terrier mixes.  Both are approximately 12 months old, weigh 7 lbs., and are fawn and white in color.  These cutie pies, rescued from Western Maryland, absolutely love being cuddled and hugged, and love to give kisses.  For more information, please call Mary at 301-908-6466.

Peanut is Adopted. Chloe has an Adoption Pending.

Lady Grace

Lady Grace is a beautiful young border collie mix who LOVES children.  She is gentle and playful.  Gracie enjoys romping with dogs and she is good with cats.  She walks nicely on a leash and will even heel if you ask.  She is a smart girl, quick to learn and anxious to please.  Gracie is about 40 lbs. and 1-2 years old.  She is spayed and up to date on all of her vetting.  She is housebroken and crate-trained.  Gracie will make a wonderful pet for some lucky family.  For more information, please call Lois at 301-258-5182.

Otto

Otto is a young (2-3 year old) poodle/Schnauzer mix who is extremely friendly, playful and sweet.  He gets along well with other dogs and loves nothing more than to play, play, play!  Otto is housebroken, well behaved and up to date on his shots.  He is also absolutely adorable!  He originally came into rescue seven months ago, but because of family problems he is once again in need of a home -- this time a forever home.  If you think you might be able to give Otto the home he deserves, please contact PetConnect Rescue at 301-299-3798.  Otto will be available for adoption after August 12th.

 Romeo

Meet Romeo, a very handsome year-old cat with soft chinchilla fur and an even softer heart.  This little fellow is wonderfully affectionate.  Everyone is his friend, including the resident cats in his foster home.  Romeo is healthy, up-to-date on all his shots and neutered.  He languished for months in a shelter before being brought into rescue; now he is hoping for a forever home.  Please call Lizette at 301-299-3798 to learn more about Romeo and to arrange to meet him.

Snoop

Snoop came to PetConnect because his owners had a baby who is allergic to him and Solomon (see below).  A gray domestic short hair, Snoop is about 5 years old, neutered and up to date on all his shots.  A darling indoor cat, he is a little timid having been wisked away from his home.  Even though he and Solomon have lived together, they do not appear to be emotionally attached and can be adopted separately.  If you have room in your home and heart for Snoop, please call Lizette at 301-299-3798.

Solomon

Solomon is a sweet cat who, like Snoop (described above) lost his home because of an allergic child.  About 5 years old, neutered and up to date on his shots, Solomon is a tabby who is in search of a loving home.  He is an indoor cat, and a bit shy because of the upheaval in his life.  As he and Snoop do not appear to be attached to one another, Solomon can be adopted alone if you are not able to take the pair.  Please call Lizette at 301-299-3798 if you can give this cat a forever home.

Mackey

Mackey is a gray domestic shorthair who is 7 years old, 17 lbs., up to date on his shots and declawed.  He has been with his family for 7 years, but now needs a new home because of the husband's allergies.  He is a very loveable cat who gets along really well with kids -- even lets them lay on him, just like a dog.  In fact, he's an indoor cat who gets along with everyone!  He has spent the last 5 years with his buddy, Bunky (see description below), and it would be nice if the pair could be adopted together.  If you can find room in your home for Mackey (and Bunky too, if possible), please call Lizette at 301-299-3798.

Bunky

Bunky is a 5-year-old, 8 lb., brown and white tabby who is declawed and up to date on his shots.  Like his buddy, Mackey (see description above), he also needs a new home because his owner of 5 years developed allergies.  Bunky is a lap cat who loves to snuggle and be petted.  He is a little shy of people at first, but warms up to them quickly.  He's also very good with kids.  Good friends for 5 years, Bunky and Mackey would like to be adopted together.  If you can give these cats a loving home, please call Lizette at 301-299-3798.
